An Educational Unit of Community Use
The theme for the V Alacero Contest of Steel Design for Architecture Students 2012 will be "An Educational Unit of Community Use”.
Latin America is having a period of significant growth and development, which momentum could slow but not stop. To sustain this progress over the longer term is necessary to prepare future generations and promote the renewal of the skills and knowledge. Education is certainly the basis of this preparation and the main key for achieving development in our countries and overcoming poverty and inequality.
From this analysis, it was proposed a theme about public education: an educational unit of primary and secondary teaching for the 5 ° CONTEST ALACERO for architecture students. This topic will cover the standards of each country, inserted into an urban housing environment that allows the intensive use of its facilities by the nearby community. In the technical bases of the contest it is proposed a basic program that displays the number of students, number of classrooms, laboratories, computer rooms, administrative offices, library, multipurpose room, sports facilities, etc. This program may be partially modified according to the reality and the regulations of each country and community where it is inserted.
The projects must analyze the needs of the community in which it is located and emphasize the contribution of this educational center can give to its inhabitants. Special attention will be devoted to the correct use of steel, to the uniqueness of the constructive solution and to the proposals on environmental issues. |
