Metal Mechanic Study

Alacerol aunched the study "Development of Latin American Metal Mechanic Value Chain," which describes the decreased weight ofthe industry within the economies of the region and the risks of this for the developmentin Latin America. Threats were identified and it was developed a series of proposals and measures that governments should adopt to face the situation and avoid an economic recession. The study was coordinated by the Center of Foreign Trade Studies Foundation (Funcex) in response to the initiative of the Latin American SteelAssociation (Alacero), before Latin American Iron and Steel Institute (ILAFA) - and focused, as well as a regional analysis, in four representative countries in this situation: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico.
The coordinators of the national studies were: Bernardo Kosacoff (Center for Business, Competitiveness and Development / CEC&D-ITBA-UDESA), Regis Bonelli (Funcex and the Brazilian Institute of Economics / IBRE-FGV), Juan Manuel Lesmes (National Association of Colombian Entrepreneurs/ ANDI) and Ernesto Cervera (Group of Economists and Associates / GEA). These studies were carried out between March and June 2011 and the results were communicated to the respective governments.
