Alacero, the Latin American Steel Association, is the non-profit organization that gathers the regional steel value chain. Alacero´s member companies develop their activities in 20 countries and their combined production –almost 70 million tons per year- accounts for 95% of the steel manufactured in Latin America.

Represented by Alacero, the Latin American Steel Industry focuses on strengthening the value of regional integration, technological innovation, human resources excellence, corporate responsibility, and social & environmental sustainability.  

Founded in 1959 as ILAFA (Latin American Iron and Steel Institute), the organization changed its name in 2011 as a consequence of a series of initiatives that renewed its focus and field of activities in order to face the current challenges of the region with global perspective.

Alacero is recognized as a Special Consultant Organism by the UN.
